  • In this episode of AMSOIL Garage we discuss the EGR Cooler, an emissions device that reroutes exhaust gases back through the engine to be burned a second time. This device sounds like a good idea, but it can cause issues for your engine, and due to the environment the EGR Cooler is placed within, the device itself can fail for numerous reasons. We tell you what you need to know to better protect the EGR and your engine in this episode.

Great info on which synthetic oil to use, especially on non-working diesels.

why not use a catch can to get more of the oil coming in?

Exhaust gas is inert. It does not burn a second time. It is also not dirty air. It is CO2, CO, HC, & NOx. The O2 content is minimal to nil. Exhaust gas, while hot, is cooler than the combustion chamber. The inert EGR gas cools the combustion chamber to reduce NOx.
